RCS has Arrived on Jest

RCS lands on Jest, upgrading the inbox into a branded, interactive platform for messaging apps.

by Deyan Vitanov in Product

Today, we’re launching the Jest RCS for Business agent - the next evolution of our marketplace for messaging apps and a major step forward for the medium itself.

Over the coming weeks and months, we’ll roll out RCS support gradually to ensure performance, reliability, and a seamless experience as access expands.

From SMS to Something Bigger

Since the beginning of our beta, we’ve used SMS via our short code 80708 to communicate with users.

SMS has been a reliable and universal foundation:

  • It works on virtually every phone.
  • It requires no downloads.
  • It’s simple and dependable.

Short code 80708 remains a trusted and effective way for users to connect with Jest.

But while SMS gave us reach, it came with limitations.

RCS fundamentally changes what messaging apps can be.

What RCS Unlocks

Comparison of SMS (plain text, unknown number, plain links) vs RCS (verified brand, rich cards, interactive buttons, suggested replies) on smartphone messaging screens.

RCS (Rich Communication Services) transforms messaging from plain text into a rich, interactive surface. If you want to understand why this moment matters structurally, we wrote about it in more depth in Messaging: The Next App Platform.

With RCS for Business, Jest can now deliver:

✅ Verified Brand Identity

Users see a branded, authenticated Jest sender profile - building trust and eliminating ambiguity.

🎮 Rich, Interactive UI

Buttons, carousels, images, and structured layouts create a more engaging experience directly in the chat thread.

📊 Enhanced Analytics

Improved delivery insights and engagement tracking help us optimize and personalize user experiences.

A New Surface for Apps

Messaging has always been universal. Now, it’s interactive.

RCS transforms the inbox into a programmable surface, unlocking richer mechanics, branded identity, and native UI inside messaging apps.

For messaging apps, this is foundational.

It allows us - and the developers building on our marketplace - to create more immersive, dynamic experiences without sacrificing the zero-install advantage that makes messaging so powerful.

It’s the same inbox.

Just a completely different platform.

Leveling Up Messaging Apps

RCS was a core part of the original spark behind Jest. It’s rewarding to finally deliver it to users.

We’ll be expanding RCS access gradually over the coming weeks and months. If you’re already interacting with us on 80708, stay tuned - your messaging apps experience is about to level up.
